European Projects to Modernise Poiana Brasov Resort and Rasnov Town

Today, April 3, in Brasov and Rasnov the Minister of Regional Development and Tourism, Cristian Petrescu, signed two contracts totalling 62.7 million lei, included in the Integrated Development Plan of the growth pole of Brasov, financed under the Regional Operational Programme. At the same time, Minister Cristian Petrescu verified the works on the trampoline and ski lanes in Raşnov, which will host a part of the sports events of the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in 2013.

The project "Planning of Poiana Brasov tourism area - planning of leisure and entertainment spaces" has an implementation period of 24 months and a total value of 44,485,829.65 lei, of which the non-reimbursable financing is 17,149,670.75 lei. The project aims at improving and diversifying leisure tourism services in Brasov Municipality, by creating a complex dedicated to leisure and entertainment activities in the tourism resort of Poiana Brasov, at creating new jobs to operate the complex for leisure and entertainment activities created in the tourism resort of Poiana Brasov and at valorising the natural resources of the resort, in order to increase attractiveness for the tourism made in the Brasov area.

The "Integrated Project of urban updating and modernisation - Historic centre of Rasnov" has an implementation period of 24 months and a total value of 18,249,765.15 lei, of which 14,360,808.72 lei represent non-reimbursable financing. The project aims at planning the Unirii Square as a pedestrian zone, at building a passage under the existing square, at building an underground parking (on 2 levels, with a capacity of 100 places), at creating a space dedicated to the organisation of public events, at planning green spaces and at restoring the public lighting.

Minister Cristian Petrescu also verified the state of the investment works for the development of sports facilities in Rasnov, which will host a series of sports events within the EYOF 2013. The MRDT investment in Rasnov, worth about 50 million lei, consists of a K 90 ski jumping trampoline (the only one in Romania), a biathlon lane and a cross-country skiing trail to Olympic standards, all practicable both in winter time and in the other seasons.
